Purpose Statement

Sydney United Volleyball Club (SUV) supports the Volleyball Australia Social Media Policy (February 2022) and is committed to ensuring compliance among its staff, volunteers, members, and participants.

This Addendum provides additional guidelines for SUV personnel when using social media in accordance with the Volleyball Australia Social Media Policy, ensuring the Club’s reputation, safety, and community values are upheld.


Application

This Addendum applies to all SUV employees, contractors, volunteers, members, and any other individuals or organisations bound to comply with Volleyball Australia and SUV policies.

It covers behaviour occurring during all SUV business, activities, competitions, and events.


Definitions

  • Member: Any individual, club, or affiliated organisation registered with Sydney United Volleyball Club.

  • Social Media: Online platforms allowing community interaction, content sharing, and collaboration, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

  • Staff: All persons working in or for SUV, whether full-time, part-time, contractor, or volunteer.

  • Volleyball Australia (VA): The national governing body for volleyball in Australia.

  • Volleyball Australia Social Media Policy: The VA policy dated February 2022.


Addendum Statement & Implementation

To ensure appropriate implementation of the Volleyball Australia Social Media Policy within Sydney United Volleyball Club:

  • References to VA also imply SUV.

  • Social Media Users must:

    • Avoid criticism of SUV partners, sponsors, athletes, other organisations, and their personnel.

    • Obtain SUV consent before using any Club intellectual property or imagery.

    • Not post content that may damage SUV’s reputation or bring the Club into disrepute.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.


SUV Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all staff and members understand the Volleyball Australia Social Media Policy and this Addendum.

  • Distribute the policy via:

    • The SUV website

    • Member communications and newsletters

    • Volunteer induction materials

  • Educate all personnel about appropriate social media conduct.

  • Require all participants in SUV activities and events to comply with this policy.


Member Roles and Responsibilities

  • Comply with both the Volleyball Australia Social Media Policy and the SUV Addendum.

  • Ensure information is communicated to members, volunteers, and stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with SUV staff to implement best practices.

  • Report concerns promptly to SUV management.


Policy Breaches

  • Breaches will be addressed promptly, sensitively, and confidentially.

  • Disciplinary action may include:

    • Member actions handled under the Complaints Management Procedure.

    • Referral to authorities if a criminal offence is suspected.
